GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR ALL TOURNAMENTS

 Tournament formats shown are subject to change based on registration numbers and ice time available, and would be considered a ‘minimum’.  Allotted warm-up times, period lengths, period format (straight vs stop time), and floods per game shown may increase if factors allow.  Final tournament format and rules will be provided to registered teams for that season prior to the tournament and will be posted within the rink for reference.

That said, game formats (ie. shorter periods) or period formats (stop vs straight time) may need to be implemented / adjusted during the tournament to ensure on-time completion as there may be other scheduled games / events following the tournament.

Roster- your Official Hockey SK Team Roster must accompany this registration form. 
      (You may have to obtain this from your local minor hockey association—see attached sample.)
-The Official Hockey SK Team Roster must include all players last name, first name, sex,
               DOB and position as well as team officials—see attached sample.  
-You may hand write in the jersey numbers on the Official Hockey SK Team Roster or
             provide a separate list. 
-Registered AP names with birth dates and jerseys numbers will be accepted up to
                 1 week prior to the commencing of the tournament. 
-It is your teams’ responsibility to provide a new Official Hockey SK Team Roster shall there
            be any changeschanges will be accepted up to 1 week prior to the commencing
                            of the tournament.
-Only those players listed on your Official Hockey SK Team Roster and your registered APs 
list will be permitted to play in the tournament.

CASL Information

U11, U13, U15 & U18 Tournament Rules
  1. This is a sanctioned tournament and SHA rules govern the tournament for minor hockey.
  2. All officials are SHA carded officials. The referees’ decisions are final and protests are not allowed.
  1. Team listed first is the “Home” Team and shall wear white. 
  2. Only players listed on the roster will be allowed to play.
  3. Overage players and APs must be indicated on the roster.  Overage players must have been approved by the tournament committee prior to commencing of the tournament or they shall not be allowed to play.
  4. Games are allotted 1-3/4 hour (this includes your warm-up). 
  5. A 3-minute warm-up. The clock will be set for the 3 minutes and will not be extended.  If your team is late, it forfeits the warm-up time.  Please ensure that your team is ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the designated start time. 
  6. Pool Play Games will consist of 2 - 30-minute straight time periods and one 25-minute straight time period.
  7. Ice will be flooded after every 2 periods during Pool Play if time permits.  There will be a 2-minute break between periods when a flood does not occur.
  8. Teams will switch ends following each period.
  9. Off-sides will be called.
  10. No timeouts are allowed.
  11. All regular 2-minute penalties will be 3 minutes in length during straight time. Example: 4-minute minor stop time equal 6-minute straight time. 
  12. During straight time, the player serving a penalty can only return to ice during play (excluding coincidental).
  13. In pool play, games that end in a tie will remain a tie.  There will be no overtime.
  14. If any teams are tied after Pool Play, the Tie Breaking Procedure will be as per SHA Regulation 3.09.01:
  1. Best win record in games played between tied teams.
  2. If still tied, the team with the best wins record.
  3. If the two teams are still tied after i) and ii) have been applied, then the team with the best goal average gains the higher position.  The goal average of a team is to be determined in the following manner: total number of goals for divided by the total number of goals for and against.
  4. If the two teams are still tied after i), ii) and iii) have been applied, the team with the least number of minutes in penalties throughout all games, gains the higher position.
 
Playoffs
  1. A 5-minute warm-up. The clock will be set for the 5 minutes and will not be extended.  If your team is late, it forfeits the warm-up time.  Please ensure that your team is ready to go at least 15 minutes prior to the designated start time.   
  2. Playoff Games will consist of 3 - 20-minute stop time periods with a flood between each period—unless Playoff Rule #3 below applies.
  3. The final period in Playoffs will transition to straight time whenever the score differential is 5 goals or more
NOTE:  the game will also transition back to stop time if the score differential goes back below 5.
 
Playoff Procedure when Playoff Game ends with a tie score; the overtime procedure to determine a winner will be:
  1. 5-minute straight time sudden victory period with 4 skaters and a goaltender.
  2. If still tied, 3- player shoot out.
  3. If still tied, goes straight to shoot out allowing each player a chance to shoot until someone scores (allowing the same number of shots from each team).  Every player gets a chance before starting a beginning player again.  If a player has a penalty at the time, he is the last player to shoot.

Please note:
  1. Any player, coach or team official assessed a fighting major, gross misconduct or match penalty will be suspended for the balance of the tournament.
  2. Any coach or team official receiving a game misconduct penalty will be suspended for the balance of the tournament.
  3. If a spectator has been addressed by a tournament committee member, MMHA Board member or City of Melfort employee with respect to their behavior they will be ejected immediately for the remainder of that day. 
The City of Melfort asks that you stay off the ice until the zamboni doors are closed.

in consultation with the MMHA GM and/or Tournament Coordinator.
